A house with good bones should not automatically become debris because it sits too low, occupies the wrong part of a lot, or stands in the path of a redevelopment plan. When to Move a House Instead of Demolishing

That may be old-growth framing, a porch proportion that defines the streetscape, historic details, or simply the home where a family has lived for generations. Costs Depend on Access, Condition, and the New Foundation
There is no honest flat price for moving a house. A compact wood-frame home that can be moved a short distance on an open site is a very different project from a two-story structure traveling through an urban corridor. Distance matters, but it is only one part of the equation.
The largest cost drivers are usually the building’s size and construction, the condition of its framing, the complexity of lifting, route limitations, utility coordination, required permits, and the new foundation. Brick veneer, masonry chimneys, attached garages, additions built at different times, and tight lot lines can add complexity. So can weak soil, a high water table, or a destination site that needs substantial foundation preparation.
